The following is a list of those organizations, businesses, city, county, state and federal offices as well as schools that may be closed during the Thanksgiving Holiday. This list will be updated as information is received.
City of El Paso
In observance of the Thanksgiving holiday, all City of El Paso administrative offices will be closed on Thursday, November 26 and Friday, November 27.
While many City services and facilities remain impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, the following City operations and services will be closed:
- No Garbage/Recycling Collection on Thanksgiving Day and Friday
- Recycling Collection to take place Monday, November 23
- Trash Collection to take place Monday, November 30
- Greater El Paso Landfill closed November 26, 27 and 28
- Citizen Collection Stations closed November 26, 27 and 28
- Sun Metro bus service suspended on Thanksgiving Day
- Animal Services Shelter closed
- Municipal Court closed Thanksgiving Day and Friday, November 27
- Wi-Fi Centers closed November 25-28
- Recreation centers, senior centers, aquatics facilities, sports fields, City museums, public libraries and the El Paso Zoo remain closed.

El Paso ISD
El Paso ISD will be closed from November 23 through 27th, no classes and no meal distribution during the break.
Socorro Independent School District facilities and campuses will be closed for the Thanksgiving break from Monday through Friday, Nov. 23 through 27, 2020. Facilities and campuses will re-open and classes will resume Monday, Nov. 30, 2020. Meal services will be closed during the break. In case of an emergency, please contact SISD Police Services Dispatch at 937-4357.
TTUHSC El Paso
Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso will be closed Thursday, Nov. 26, and Friday, Nov. 27, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. This includes the Texas Tech Physicians of El Paso clinics.
TTUHSC El Paso libraries will close at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25, and reopen at 7:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 30.
Normal hours of operation for essential employees will resume Monday, Nov. 30.
As a reminder, Ysleta ISD will be closed Nov. 23-27 for Thanksgiving break. We will return on Monday, Nov. 30.
To help reduce the spread of COVID-19 and encourage the community to stay home, Sun Metro will temporarily suspend operations including LIFT services on Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 2020, and on all Sundays starting December 6, 2020.
In observance of Thanksgiving, The University of Texas at El Paso will be closed on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 26-27, 2020. Regular operating hours will resume Monday, Nov. 30.
Following the Thanksgiving holiday, there will be no in-person classes. All courses will continue remotely for the final weeks of the semester.

El Paso Community College (EPCC) will observe Thanksgiving Thursday & Friday, November 26 – 27. Classes will resume on Saturday, November 28 and offices will reopen through distance technology on Monday, November 30.
