The Great Khalid Foundation, in partnership with El Paso Electric, announced Friday its newest initiative: Fine Arts Student Exhibition, celebrating Black History.
“We’re always excited to create programs that encourage self-expression through the arts,” said Linda Wolfe, Executive Director of The Great Khalid Foundation, “but we’re especially proud of a program that increases Black history educational opportunities.”
Celebrating Black History invites middle and high school students from El Paso to select a public figure, historical moment, or other topic within Black history and channel their learning and interpretation into an original art piece.
“El Paso Electric has a lasting commitment to enriching our community through new partnerships and we’re thrilled to be working with The Great Khalid Foundation to introduce a program that celebrates diversity and increases educational opportunities for our city’s talented students,” said Eddie Gutierrez, Vice President of Customer Care, Communications & Community for El Paso Electric.
The Great Khalid Foundation and El Paso Electric will select 10 finalists to showcase their work at the Fine Arts Student Exhibition on June 19, 2021 in celebration of the Juneteenth holiday.
Three winners will be selected at the Exhibition and awarded $1,000 for first place, $750 for second place, and $500 for third place.
