The Weekly Yelp: Party Like It’s 1929

December 5th we celebrate the day Prohibition was repealed. So while you won’t find yourself swigging from a bathtub full of vodka these days, the charm of 1920s prohibition-style speakeasies has never gone out of fashion. This week, we’re spilling the secrets of El Paso’s vintage bars and bistros that pay tribute to a bygone era of cocktails.

Bogart’s Steakhouse & Bar
5825 Mesa St, El Paso, TX

“This is a great place to go for a date night and/or dinner with friends… They also really know how to mix a classic cocktail. My fiancé got a Sazerac and it was straight off the streets of New Orleans!” – Marisa L.

The Black Orchid Lounge
6127 N Mesa St, El Paso, TX
“I really enjoy Black Orchid’s Speakeasy atmosphere and Prohibition-era drink menu… I was impressed by the drink menu that features classic and re-imagined cocktails, so far the Bloody Jack is my favorite… The Mezcalita is also quite good.” – Albert K.

Pint & Peanut
518 W San Antonio, El Paso, TX
“They have a great selection of craft beers… Their specialty cocktails include flavored moonshine like the Front Porch Peach. They are all definitely worth trying if you like sweet mixed drinks. The moonshine shots are also delicious.” – Eddie P.

TradeCraft
3737 N Mesa, El Paso, TX
“Absolutely loved this bar! They serve craft beer and cocktails, the cocktails are perfect – and they are served with a steel straw to maintain a cold sip. Overall, this is a new bar that must be tried!” – Imelda M.

Anson11
303 N Oregon St, El Paso, TX
“Outstanding! Went for happy hour and had a few cocktails and dinner. The 1911 and San Jacinto cocktails were well-made, delicious, and refreshing.” – David G.
