TNTM: Glass is the sequel to M. Night Shyamalan’s Unbreakable

Unbreakable and Split get a sequel. Unbreakable was the superhero movie that preceded the blockbuster Marvel and DC superhero movies.

It managed to tell a great story about a superhero and super-villain without relying on high tech gadgets or CGI graphics. Samuel L. Jackson and Bruce Willis really brought their characters to life.

Fast forward to present time. M. Night’s movie Split introduced us to a multiple personality bad guy played by James McAvoy. Split was a good movie in it’s own right. What got a lot of us fanboys excited was the cameo of Bruce Willis’s Unbreakable character, David Dunn. A lot of younger movie goers might not remember that character from a movie that was released 17 years ago. Us old timers had an absolute nerdgasm upon seeing Unbreakable linked to Split.

The sequel will be titled “Glass”. If you remember, Samuel L. Jackson’s villain character from Unbreakable was named Mr. Glass due to his medical condition giving him very fragile bones. There hasn’t been a lot of information given on this movie as of yet. M. Night Shyamalan has confirmed it is definitely linked to Unbreakable and Split. The early rumors are Mr. Glass is the main villain manipulating James McAvoy’s character to due his bidding.

If M. Night can recapture that magic he had with Unbreakable the movie will be amazing. I love to see heroes and villains depicted as everyday people instead of over-hyped blow-hards in tights and a cape. It will also be interesting to see Jackson, Willis, and McAvoy playing off each other on the big screen. This movie has the potential to be another box office hit for Shyamalan.
