Zuill Bailey was named the Artistic Director of El Paso Pro-Musica in 2002, and his first Concert for EPPM featured pianist Awadagin Pratt. They are together again in El Paso, marking the 20th anniversary of this monumental first Concert on Saturday, November 12 at 7:30 p.m at UTEP’s Fox Fine Arts Recital Hall.
Zuill and Awadagin met 35 years ago over a Ping Pong Table at a Music Camp, and have been friends, colleagues and collaborators ever since. The Concert re-uniting the two artists will feature works by Chopin and Tchaikovsky and the passionate fiery Sonata for Cello and Piano by Brahms that was featured on their Chart-Topping CD, “Brahms.” Pianist Awadagin Pratt is the first American and African American to win the coveted Naumberg Competition. He is committed to music education and diversity, and works tirelessly to expose students to music lessons and appreciation all over the country.
The Concert was originally scheduled for last Spring, but Covid delayed the reunion for both Zuill and Awadagin. They are ready to celebrate with El Paso audiences. Tickets are available at eppm.org and by calling 915-747-8163. Tickets will also be available at the door. Student Tickets are only $5.00.
