Hunter Renfroe hit his 30th home run of the season in the top of the first inning Saturday
The Albuquerque Isotopes had a strong start for the second consecutive night Saturday and beat the El Paso Chihuahuas 6-2. German Marquez tossed seven innings and allowed only two El Paso runs, picking up his second Triple-A win of the season.
For the second time in three games, the Chihuahuas were held to three hits, with two of the hits being homers.
Hunter Renfroe hit his 30th home run of the season in the top of the first inning Saturday, tying Reno’s Kyle Jensen for the Pacific Coast League lead with two games to go in the regular season. Renfroe became the first PCL player to hit 30 home runs and drive in 100 runs since Iowa’s Bryan LaHair in 2011.
Chihuahuas’ starter Bryan Rodriguez retired the first 12 Isotopes hitters and ended up striking out eight without walking a batter. Former Chihuahua Alex Castellanos hit two home runs for Albuquerque Saturday. Austin Hedges went 1-for-4 with a solo home run for El Paso.
