Tornillo ISD, Institute for Learning at the University of Pittsburgh partner on Planning Grant for Math Teaching and Learning

The Tornillo Independent School District (TISD) is joining forces with the Institute for Learning (IFL) at the University of Pittsburgh to co-design a plan for growing the district’s 6th through 8th grade mathematics program.

The IFL received a planning grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to support the co-design of multi-year implemantion plan for our middle school math curriculum.

Mr. Rodrigo Portillo, Assistant Superintendent, is coordinating the project for the TISD. Teachers and administrators will be collaborating with a team of individuals from the IFL to utilize Texas GO Math! for creating a stimulating and engaging math program for students.

Tornillo Independent School District is located approximately 35 miles southeast of El Paso, serving the small community of Tornillo.
