TTUHSC El Paso to Host Downtown ‘Pokemon Go!’ Health Activities

The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso (TTUHSC El Paso) Department of Pediatrics, in partnership with the City of El Paso Parks and Recreation Department, will sponsor several “Pokemon Go!” activities Friday. The event will include giveaways, contests and a grand prize raffle for a Fitbit. Prizes will be awarded based on the total distance gamers walk.

These TTUHSC El Paso “Pokemon Go!” activities are designed to encourage kids to be active, which is part of the Department of Pediatrics’ community-wide pediatric weight management initiative. Free blood pressure readings will be available at the TTUHSC El Paso tent.

“Pokemon Go!” is a first of its kind, augmented reality game where players are encouraged to walk, explore and interact with others while using the mobile device application. Pokemon activities will run in conjunction with the 16 de Septiembre celebration hosted by the City of El Paso.
