Paul E. Ogden, M.D., F.A.C.P, has been named Provost of Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso (TTUHSC El Paso).
Dr. Ogden joins TTUHSC El Paso from Texas A&M Health Science Center, where he has served as a Tenured Professor of Internal Medicine and has held the roles of Interim Dean of Medicine, and Interim Senior Vice President of the Health Science Center. He previously held academic roles at Scott and White Memorial Hospital.
He earned his M.D. from the Texas A&M College of Medicine. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine, and a faculty development fellowship at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, a fellow of the American College of Physicians, and a member of the American Medical Association and the Texas Medical Association.
Dr. Ogden has over 30 years of experience in academic medicine, including administrative responsibilities while serving as Vice Chair for Academic Affairs and Director of Graduate Medical Education. His research interests include medical simulation curricula, medical school curricula, and improving health systems for primary and rural health care.
Dr. Ogden has honed his national expertise in clinical curriculum and assessment, including simulation education.
Dr. Ogden will serve as the Chief Academic Officer, focusing on academic planning, growing academic programs, and developing academic policy. He starts his new role February 1.
Jose Manuel de la Rosa, M.D., has been named Vice President for Outreach and Community Engagement. In his new role, Dr. de la Rosa will be a liaison between the university and community health care providers, fostering relationships that will advance education at TTUHSC El Paso.
Dr. De La Rosa will also work closely with federally qualified health centers to develop strategic partnerships. He starts his new role February 1.
