For Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) El Paso’s grand opening of the Medical Sciences Building II, the school will relaunch of its signature event series, Sip & Sim.
“Sip & Sim social events welcome community members to learn firsthand how dental, nursing and medical students train to become future health care heroes.” university officials share. “Guests experience one-on-one conversations with students and faculty, as well as medical manikin and virtual reality simulations from the Training and Educational Center for Healthcare Simulation (TECHS).”
The popular event series was paused during the COVID-19 pandemic and has been relaunched to celebrate the grand opening of MSB II on the TTUHSC El Paso campus.
MSB II is an $83 million, 219,900-square-foot, five-story building that more than doubled the campus’ research capacity and adds crucial instructional space to support its growing student population.
The MSB II second, third, and fourth floors — more than 87,000 square feet — are dedicated to research, including space for the Hunt School of Dental Medicine and the Dental Learning Center, laboratories, offices and research administration.
The first floor houses the campus’ largest teaching auditorium: a 9,200-square-foot space that accommodates up to 500 people. The remaining space on the first floor is dedicated to a library, a reflection room for quiet space, classrooms, student study rooms and administration.
School officials add that a surprise naming of a study room in honor of a community leader will be unveiled during the event.
