Wednesday Winter Weather: delays, cancellations and information

This story will serve as an on-going update with information regarding area closures, delays or other weather-related information as Wednesday’s (February 12th) winter storm moves through the area.

City of El Paso

Delayed Start for City of El Paso Employees and Municipal Courts

Due to winter weather conditions, City of El Paso’s non-essential staff will have a delayed start tomorrow, Wednesday, February 12. City employees are asked to arrive to work at 9 a.m.

Municipal Court Notice

Northeast Arraignment will be delayed until 8:30 am

Courts 3 and 5D, which begin at 7 a.m. Downtown, have been cancelled all cases will automatically be reset.

El Paso County

The El Paso County Courthouse and all County satellite offices will have a delayed opening February 12, 2020 for all non-essential personnel due to potential hazardous weather/road conditions. The County Courthouse/satellite offices are expected to resume regular business hours at 10:00AM tomorrow.


The University of Texas at El Paso will open late Feb. 12, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. due to icy conditions. Critical facilities support personnel and the UTEP Police Department employees are asked to check with their supervisors regarding work schedules.

Students, faculty and staff are asked to exercise safety and caution while driving to campus. For updates on weather and campus closures, follow local media reports or visit utep.edu/emergency.

Texas Tech University Health Science Center El Paso

Due to inclement weather, the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso campus will delay opening until 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 12.

Essential personnel at the Texas Tech Physicians of El Paso clinics will maintain their regular hours of operation and open at their regularly scheduled time. Nonessential personnel should report to their clinic at 10 a.m.

Any employee with questions regarding opening hours for their department should contact their supervisor directly.


Out of consideration for the safety of students & employees, due to winter weather conditions, the school/work day at all EPCC campuses & ASC will have a delayed start Wed. Feb. 12th.

Please report to classes or work at 10 a.m. Continue to follow social media for latest updates.

NMSU / Dona Ana Community College

Due to worsening weather, classes at NMSU Las Cruces Campus and Dona Ana Community College will be canceled tonight at 5 p.m and will delay opening on Wednesday, Feb. 12 until 10 a.m. Supervisors may allow employees to leave work early if they choose to use their leave time. Updates will be posted as information becomes available

El Paso ISD

Because of potential wheater conditions, all EPISD schools and offices will be on a 2-hour delay on Wednesday, Feb. 12.  Morning half-day pre-k is canceled. Full day pre-k will have a two-hour delay and afternoon pre-k will have regular start.
High-school parent-teacher conferences will be moved to Thursday, Feb. 13. High-school students will have normal release time on Wednesday and early release on Thursday to accommodate the change in schedule.
All after-school activities for Tuesday, Feb. 11 are canceled.

Socorro ISD

Due to the extreme weather we are experiencing and the anticipated improvement of driving conditions later in the morning, Socorro ISD schools will operate on a delayed start schedule tomorrow, ‪Wednesday, Feb. 12. All schools will start two hours from their normal starting time. Elementary and Middle school start times will be ‪at 9:45 a.m. High schools will ‪start at 10:40 a.m.

All morning half-day Pre-Kindergarten classes are cancelled for the day. Transportation will be provided two hours from normal pick up times. As more information is available, we will provide updates via the district website at www.sisd.net, phone messages, social media, the news media and/or from the District Service Center. JOBCON @ EASTLAKE HS – Due to inclement weather and the announcement of a delayed start in the Socorro Independent School District (SISD), Workforce Solutions Borderplex (WSB) has cancelled tomorrow’s JobCon scheduled at Eastlake High School.

Ysleta ISD

Due to inclement weather , ALL after school UIL games and extracurricular activities, including basketball, are cancelled for this evening.
ALL schools, administrative offices, and district staff in the Ysleta Independent School District will have a two-hour delayed opening from the normal starting time Wednesday, Feb. 12.
All elementary schools, to include morning Pre-K and PPCD half-day classes, will begin at 9:30 AM, while middle schools and high schools will begin at 10:30 AM.
Buses will pick up at designated bus stops two hours from the original pick-up time. Check our social media pages and district website at yisd.net for more information.

Clint ISD

At this time, based on weather reports and road conditions, Clint ISD schools will remain on regular schedule February 12, 2020. Our security will continue to monitor the roads through the night and any change will be announced by 5 AM tomorrow morning.

Canutillo ISD

SPECIAL WEATHER ANNOUNCEMENT FOR Northwest Early College High School STUDENTS: Due to inclement winter weather, Northwest Early College will operate on a 2-hour delay tomorrow morning. Bus routes will also be delayed by 2 hours. There will be no classes for all other campuses.

Canutillo ISD will operate on a 2-hour delay tomorrow morning. Professional development sessions for teachers will proceed as follows: AM session 10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., lunch 12:30-1:30 p.m. and afternoon session will be 1:30-4:00 p.m.

Fabens ISD

FISD schools and offices will be on a two-hour delay on Wednesday, Feb. 12. Parent-teacher conferences will be moved to Thursday, Feb. 13. Full day on Wednesday and early release on Thursday.

Due to inclement weather, all after school activities are cancelled with the exception of basketball games. 2/11/20

San Elizario ISD

Due to dropping temperatures and the high percentage for rain this evening, athletic activities, with the exception of basketball, will be cancelled this afternoon. Basketball teams will play at Fabens.

Tornillo ISD


Fort Hancock ISD

Due to potential icy conditions, the school and work day at all FHISD schools and facilities will start 2 hours after their normal time on Wednesday, Feb. 12. Please report to school or work 2 hours later than your normal reporting time.

Anthony ISD

Due to inclement weather, we are cancelling all after school (middle and high school) athletic practices for today. Please be safe on the roads!

Anthony ISD will be on a 2 hour delay tomorrow morning. Wildcats, please be safe on the road!

IDEA Public Schools El Paso

Due to inclement weather and potential icy road conditions. All IDEA Public School campuses in El Paso will be on a two hour delayed start. The start time for students will be 9:30 a.m. Pre-K morning students will join our Pre-K afternoon session at 12 p.m.

El Paso Catholic Schools

The El Paso Catholic Schools will be on a two-hour delay due to potentially icy conditions on the road. All El Paso Catholic school student and employees are to report to work two hours after the usual start of the day on Wednesday Feb. 12

La Fe Preparatory School

Due to weather and icy-road concerns, the La Fe Preparatory School will begin its classes on a two-hour delay tomorrow morning (Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2020).

Las Cruces Public Schools

Due to a forecast that may bring icy roads, LCPS will start two hours after normal time on Feb 12. Morning buses will arrive two hours late. Morning half-day PK classes are cancelled. Full day PK classes will be on a two hour delay.

Gadsden ISD

2 HOUR DELAY – WED., FEB. 12, 2020 ***

Hatch Valley Schools

Due to the continued weather conditions, Hatch Valley Public Schools will be on a two hour delay tomorrow, February 12, 2020.
