Two EPCC Early College High Schools Honored
El Paso Community College (EPCC) is proud to announce the national recognition of two of its early college high schools.
Valle Verde Early College High School (34 th in the nation), Mission Early College High School (58 th in the nation) were cited for “Beating the Odds” by Newsweek Magazine.
Faculty and staff of these schools were recognized for their superior work in preparing students for college while dealing with the barriers of low-economic standing.
Officials added, “As EPCC strives to give the best education to all its students, this national recognition, along with other awards like the Aspen Award Top Ten Community College in the nation and The HEED Award for diversity, vindicates the work students, faculty and staff do to better our community.”
The “Beating the Odds” ranking is a “relative” list of schools weighing performance while accounting for poverty rates.
