Officials with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDoT) announced Thursday that work crews have started preparing local roads for the expected bad weather this weekend.
With temperatures expected to be around freezing both Friday and Saturday nights, and the forecast calling for rain, TxDoT Crews started work on both the IH 10 and 62/180 corridors.
TxDoT Public Affairs Officer Jennifer Wright states that current forecasts call for snow in Pine Springs area and around the Hueco Mountains on 62/180, leading to crews preparing the roads in that area.
Wright adds, “For El Paso and the IH 10 corridor, the current forecast is for an extended rain event with low temperatures and overnight lows approaching freezing….sections should monitor forecast and be prepared for full scale response and EOC activation over the weekend for temperatures drop.
