TxDoT, Connect 10 detours, closures for Week of January 17

In addition to all the on-going work, TxDoT El Paso officials share that a new direct connector ramp from westbound Interstate 10 to the Bridge of the Americas is scheduled to open to traffic as early Friday afternoon.

As a result, traffic bound for Juárez will no longer be detoured up US 54 and through the Pershing Drive turnaround. While this new direct connector ramp allows some traffic to avoid an out-of-the-way detour, traffic on eastbound I-10 will soon have to travel via the Trowbridge Drive turnaround to access Juárez or US 54.

These changes are scheduled to begin on the morning of Saturday, January 16, 2021:

  • A new direct connector ramp from westbound I-10 to Juárez will open at the Spaghetti Bowl. This will allow traffic from westbound I-10 to directly access the Bridge of the Americas. All traffic which takes this exit must travel to Juárez. Turnarounds near the Bridge of the Americas have been closed; access from the Juárez exit to US 62 (Paisano Drive) has been permanently removed.

These changes are scheduled to begin on the morning of Tuesday, January 19, 2021:

  • Ramp H which connects eastbound I-10 to northbound US 54 will temporarily close to all traffic until further notice. All traffic bound for northbound US 54, southbound US 54 or Juárez should remain on eastbound I-10, take Exit 24A (Trowbridge Drive), use the newly widened turnaround, enter westbound I-10, take Exit 22B (US 54/Alamogordo/Juárez/Fort Bliss) and follow the above detour. This closure will allow crews to demolish and reconfigure parts of Ramp H.

  • Gateway Boulevard East will temporarily close to thru traffic at Loop 478 (Copia Street) until further notice. Gateway East will remain open for business access only to a point just past Stevens Street. Thru traffic should detour via Durazno Avenue. This closure is necessary because of overhead demolition work on Ramp H.
