Here’s a look at the area’s project closures for the week ahead. High impact closures and complete closure lists via hyperlinks are below.

The largest on-going project is will allow crews to build new ramps to Juárez as part of the I-10 Connect Project, parts of existing ramps to Juárez must be removed. As a result of overhead demolition of parts of Ramp F which connects I-10 to Juárez, SH 20 (Alameda Avenue) will be closed to all pedestrians, cyclists and motorists at US 54 for approximately 46 hours next weekend.

Nightly closures on Alameda will continue in advance of the full weekend closure as crews finalize preparations for the demolition work. Other closures are scheduled for next week as well.

Spall Repair Project

Monday, October 14 through Thursday, October 17

9pm to 5am (Nightly)

  • Three left lanes IH-10 Eastbound from Geronimo to Airways
  • Three left lanes IH-10 Eastbound from Hawkins to McRae
  • Crews will be repairing spalled concrete in the area

Rockwall Repair

Monday, October 14 through Friday, October 18

9am to 4pm

  • Gateway West left lane closure between Hawkins and Airway
  • I-10 Westbound right shoulder closure between Hawkins and Airway
  • Crews will be repairing rock wall in the area.

Maintenance  

Monday, October 14 through Friday, October 18

9am to 4pm

  • Center lane closed at Gateway West and Piedras
  • Right lane closed at Piedras Northbound between Gateway East and Gateway West
  • Right shoulder closed at US-54 South by Cassidy Gate
  • Right lane closure at SH178 Artcraft East and Westbound between Upper Valley to State Line
  • IH-10 East at Reynolds entrance ramp will be closed.
  • IH-10 Westbound alternate lane closures between Copia and Piedras. (NIGHT – 9pm to 6am)
  • Copia entrance to IH-10 West will be closed. (NIGHT – 9pm to 6am)

IH-10 Ramp Improvements – Phase 2

Tuesday, Oct 15 through Thursday, Oct 17

9pm – 6am (Night)

  • Hawkins exit ramp closed, and Gateway East Closed at Eastside Road.
  • Detour  through Eastside Road to Industrial to Hawkins, and back on to Gateway East (Barrier Move)

  •  Right turn lane at the Verizon Store into the Fountains along Gateway West closed; leaving Driveway Open, Right turn from Gateway West to Northbound Hawkins closed leaving driveways open. Right lane closure Gateway West from the Airway Westbound off ramp to the first driveway to Shell on Airway leaving driveways and side streets open.

Monday, October 28 through Monday, November 18

  • Hawkins at Gateway east intersection will close.
  • No through traffic north or south bound at the intersection.
  • Gateway east traffic will continue east on the gateway or turn south on to Hawkins.
  • Northbound traffic on Hawkins will turn right onto Gateway east.
  • Southbound traffic on Hawkins will turn left onto Gateway east.

Guardrail Repair Project

Monday, October 14

9am to 4pm

  • Right lane closure IH-10 Eastbound from Anthony to Westway Dr. including Anthony on-ramp to IH-10 Eastbound.

Tuesday, October 15

9am to 4pm

  • Right lane closure IH-10 Westbound between Transmountain and Vinton.

I-10 Connect

Monday, October 14, through Thursday, October 17

Nightly from 9pm to 5am

  • SH 20 (Alameda Avenue) will be closed to all traffic at US 54.
  • DETOURS: Eastbound traffic will turn left on Loop 478 (Copia Street), right on Gateway Boulevard East, and right on Raynolds Street. Westbound traffic will use westbound US 62 (Paisano Drive) and turn right on Loop 478 (Copia Street).
  • NOTE: Alameda will remain open to local traffic only except for the area immediately under US 54.
  • Crews will be preparing parts of an existing ramp for demolition.

Tuesday, October 15, from 9pm to 5am

  • Ramp B which connects northbound US 54 to Gateway Boulevard North will be closed to all traffic.
  • Ramp C which connects northbound US 54 to westbound I-10 will be closed to all traffic.
  • DETOUR TO WESTBOUND I-10: Take Exit 23 (Cassidy Road/Fort Bliss), take Exit 22B (Pershing Drive), and use the newly widened turnaround to access southbound US 54. Take Exit 21B (I-10 West/Las Cruces).
  • Crews will be placing bridge girders.

Tuesday, October 15, and Wednesday, October 16

Nightly 8pm to 5am

  • Gateway Boulevard North will be closed to all traffic between US 62 (Paisano Drive) and SH 20 (Alameda Avenue).
  • DETOUR: Northbound traffic will access US 54 via I-110.
  • Crews will be working on an overhead ramp.

46-HOUR WEEKEND CLOSURE

7am on Saturday, October 19, through

5am on Monday, October 21

  • SH 20 (Alameda Avenue) will be closed to all traffic at US 54.
  • DETOURS: Eastbound traffic will turn left on Loop 478 (Copia Street), right on Gateway Boulevard East, and right on Raynolds Street. Westbound traffic will use westbound US 62 (Paisano Drive) and turn right on Loop 478 (Copia Street).
  • NOTE: Alameda will remain open to local traffic only except for the area immediately under US 54. Motorists, pedestrians and cyclists will not be allowed to cross under US 54 at any point during this closure.
  • Crews will be demolishing parts of an existing ramp.

District Wide Striping Project

Monday, Oct. 14 through Friday, Oct. 18

9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

  • I-10 alternating eastbound and westbound lanes between Tornillo and Fort Hancock
  • Closure is necessary for mobile striping operation

Mall Braided Ramps Project

Sunday, Oct. 13 through Tuesday, Oct. 15 (complete closure)

9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

  • I-10 westbound complete closure between Hunter Drive and Hawkins Boulevard
  • Traffic will exit at McRae Boulevard and re-enter at Airway Boulevard
  • Crews will be removing portable concrete traffic barrier and final striping

Wednesday, Oct. 16 through Thursday, Oct. 17 (complete closure)

9 p.m. to 5 a.m. (overnight)

  • Gateway Boulevard eastbound to westbound turnaround at Hawkins Boulevard closed
  • Gateway Boulevard westbound to eastbound turnaround at Hawkins Boulevard closed
  • Complete closure of northbound and southbound lanes at Hawkins Boulevard underpass
  • Crews will be power-washing and painting underneath the bridge

  • DETOURS: Eastbound traffic will turn left on Loop 478 (Copia Street), right on Gateway Boulevard East, and right on Raynolds Street. Westbound traffic will use westbound US 62 (Paisano Drive) and turn right on Loop 478 (Copia Street).
  • NOTE: Alameda will remain open to local traffic only except for the area immediately under US 54. Motorists, pedestrians and cyclists will not be allowed to cross under US 54 at any point during this closure.

Crews will be demolishing parts of an existing ramp.

Long-Term Closures Which Will Remain in Place Next Week

  • Ramps F and G which connect I-10 to Juárez at the Spaghetti Bowl remain detoured through northbound US 54 to Pershing Drive until further notice.
  • Ramp T which connects Gateway Boulevard North to northbound US 54 north of US 62 (Paisano Drive) remains closed until further notice.
  • Alternating complete closures of Durazno Avenue, Rosa Avenue and Uva Street.
  • Both turnarounds under US 54 at US 62 (Paisano Drive) remain closed until further notice.
  • Intermittent lane closures will be in place on US 54 between Loop 375 and Spur 601.
  • Intermittent lane closures will be in place on Gateway Boulevard East between Piedras Street and US 62/180 (Paisano Drive).
  • Intermittent lane closures will be in place on Gateway Boulevard West between Boone Street and Palm Street.
  • Lane closures are in place on eastbound and westbound SH 20 (Alameda Avenue) at US 54 until further notice.
  • Lane closures are in place on eastbound and westbound US 62 (Paisano Drive) between I-110 and US 54 until further notice.
  • Lane closures are in place on Ramp D which connects southbound US 54 to eastbound I-10 until further notice.
  • Lane closures are in place on Gateway Boulevard South between Findley Avenue and US 62 (Paisano Drive) until further notice.

Upcoming Long-Term Closures

While the exact date and duration of the following closures have not been established, motorists are encouraged to be aware of the following proposed long-term closures:

  • Ramp V which connects southbound US 54 to US 62 (Paisano Drive) will close to all traffic so crews can temporarily open Gateway Boulevard South to two-way traffic. This temporary change is necessary to allow access to the Findley/Latta neighborhood during upcoming concrete paving work on Paisano.

  • All traffic leaving the Bridge of the Americas on northbound Interstate 110 will be required to turn right on US 62 (Paisano Drive). This temporary traffic change is necessary to allow crews to route southbound traffic on I-110 into the northbound lanes giving crews additional room to work on retaining walls.
