TxDoT, Go10 Closures, Detours for End of Year, Start of 2019
Here’s a look at project closures heading into the New Year. There are no scheduled closures over the holidays, but many into the New Year. Please review, take note and plan ahead.
GO10 Project
I-10 East at Redd
27-hour Closure
Sunday, Jan. 6, at 3 a.m. to Monday, Jan. 7 at 6 a.m.
- I-10 eastbound will close between Redd Road and Sunland Park Drive.
- The Redd Road entrance ramp to I-10 eastbound will close.
- The North Mesa Street entrance ramp to I-10 eastbound will close.
- Detour: Motorists will exit at Redd Road (Exit 9), follow Redd Road to Doniphan Drive, then follow Doniphan Drive to Sunland Park Drive. Motorists may re-enter I-10 eastbound via the Sunland Park Drive entrance ramp.
- I-10 lane pattern change: Crews plan to change traffic lane patterns for motorists on I-10 eastbound between North Mesa Street (SH 20) and Resler Drive. Once the 27-hour closure lifts, motorists can expect to be driving on the mainlanes of I-10 after several months of driving on the collector-distributor (CD) lanes. The CD lanes run alongside I-10’s mainlanes.
- Note: If this work activity is canceled, then it will be re-scheduled for Jan. 13-14.
North Mesa
Monday, Jan. 7, through Thursday, Jan. 10
9 p.m. each night to 6 a.m. each morning
- The eastbound lanes on North Mesa Street (SH 20) – traveling in the direction from Osborne toward Remcon – will close between Osborne Drive and Remcon Circle.
- The North Mesa exit ramp (Exit 11) from I-10 westbound will close.
- The North Mesa entrance ramp to I-10 eastbound will close.
- Note: Motorists who exit at the North Mesa exit ramp (Exit 11) from I-10 eastbound will only be able to turn right onto North Mesa Street (SH 20) at the signalized intersection.
- Crews will continue upgrading pavement on North Mesa Street (SH 20).
Hawkins/Viscount Operation Improvements Project – (New Project)
Monday, Jan. 7 and Tuesday, Jan. 8
9 p.m. to 6 a.m. (two nights)
- Complete closure on I-10 eastbound between the Hawkins overpass to the Viscount overpass
- Eastbound Viscount exit ramp will be closed
- Crews will be installing concrete barriers in the area
Wednesday, Jan. 9
9 p.m. to 6 a.m. (one night only)
- Two right lane closures on I-10 eastbound between the Hawkins overpass to the Viscount overpass
- Eastbound Viscount exit ramp will be closed
- Crews will be striping in the area
Thursday, Jan. 10
9 p.m. to 6 a.m. (one night only)
- Two left lane closures on Gateway Boulevard East between Hawkins to Viscount
- Crews will be installing low profile barriers for long term lane closure
Starting January 7 and until further notice
- I-10 eastbound Viscount exit ramp will be closed
- Left lane closure on Gateway Boulevard East between Hawkins and Viscount will be closed
- Crews will be improving the Viscount exit ramp on I-10 eastbound
Maintenance
Monday, Jan. 7 through Friday, Jan. 11
9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (throughout the day)
- Eastbound Global Reach exit ramp on Spur 601 will be closed
- Right lane closure on Cesar Chavez/Border Highway (Loop 375) eastbound at Fonseca
- Eastbound Fonseca exit ramp will be closed
Border West Expressway
US 85
Wednesday, Jan. 2, and Thursday, Jan. 3
9 p.m. to 5 a.m. (nightly full closure)
- Westbound and eastbound from Spur 1966 to San Francisco Street
- Closure is needed for bridge work
Friday, Jan. 4, to Monday, Jan. 7
9 p.m. to 5 a.m. (continuous full closure)
- Westbound and eastbound from Spur 1966 to San Francisco Street
- Closure is needed for bridge work
Monday, Jan. 7, to Friday, Jan. 11

Oregon Street

- Northbound from Loop 375 to 7th Street
- Closure is needed for roadway work
El Paso Water Utilities Project
Sunday, Jan. 13 through Monday, Jan. 14
3 a.m. to 6 a.m. (57-hour closure)
- Complete closure on I-10 westbound at Mesa
- Complete closure I-10 eastbound at Downtown
- Crews will be installing a water line and chain link fence in the area
