Community members in the TxDOT El Paso District are invited to attend a virtual public meeting and provide feedback on the 2021 – 2024 Rural Transportation Improvement Program (RTIP) this Thursday.
“The TxDOT El Paso District planning and programming territory is about 21,700 square miles covering six counties; Brewster, Culberson, El Paso, Hudspeth, Jeff Davis and Presidio,” said El Paso District Engineer Tomas Treviño. “Our district is larger than nine states and road use varies by county. It is important for residents to review program information and let us know what is important to them.”
The RTIP is a short-range program developed by the District in cooperation with rural planning organizations (RPO) that covers a four-year period and contains a prioritized listing of all projects proposed for federal funding.
It also contains regionally significant projects proposed for state, federal, and local funding in all areas of the state outside of metropolitan planning areas.
The virtual meeting will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2020, 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. MST.
During the presentation, staff will highlight RTIP prioritized projects including years project funding is allocated for construction and the public will have an opportunity to review and comment on the proposed priorities.
The Rural TIP is a primary component of the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) that will incorporate funding for projects in rural and urban portions of the El Paso District.
