UMC, El Paso Children’s Hospital Foundations’ Volunteer Corps three day Sports Memorabilia Auction begins Tuesday

UMC, El Paso Children’s Hospital Foundations’ Volunteer Corps three day Sports Memorabilia Auction begins Tuesday

Next week, sports fans will hit memorabilia pay dirt and help UMC and El Paso Children’s Hospital Foundations’ Volunteer Corps at the same time.

“It is fascinating to watch the volunteers deliberate over each application and then decide who to disburse the funds to and why,” said Estela Casas, Executive Director of UMC and El Paso Children’s Hospital Foundations.

In an effort to make a long-term impact on the programs and patient care at both UMC and EPCH, the Volunteer Corps uses its fundraising dollars to make grant awards available to departments at UMC and EPCH.

“Volunteer Congress is a unique opportunity for Foundation volunteers to review grant applications and hear brief presentations from department leaders at UMC and EPCH,” officials share.

“Following the presentations volunteers use their CORE Skills to ask questions, discuss, vote and determine whether or not to fund the request, and how much money to award. Since 2016, Volunteer Corps has awarded $100,000 to UMC and EPCH through Volunteer Congress.”

“At a time when fundraising can be difficult for non-profit organizations, the Volunteer Corps for El Paso Children’s Hospital Foundation and University Medical Center Foundation is excited to host this online raffle and silent auction,” said Carolyn Williams, Volunteer Corps Program Manager.

“Last year Volunteer Corps granted $50,000 to UMC and EPCH to purchase medical equipment and resources for patients and families. With some help from our community, we hope this fundraiser will bring us closer to making it happen again.”

Starting Tuesday, August 25th at 8 am through Thursday, August 27th at 6 pm, Volunteer Corps officials will display an array of sports memorabilia to be auctioned.

Starting bids range from $10 to $200 and include memorabilia from these athletes:

The Volunteer Corps powers event preparation and support for foundation fundraisers, activities and community outreach.

In addition, the Volunteer Corps maintains programs such as the El Paso Health Car Seat Safety Program and Compassionate Care. Project CARE also provides support services and medical equipment to patients and families in need.
