UTEP’s Jones Garners National Performer of the Week Honorable Mention

The National Performer of the Week went to Nick Fitzgerald (Mississippi State). Also receiving honorable mention recognition was Deshaun Watson (Clemson), Skyler Howard (West Virginia), Nick Stevens (Colorado State) and Derrius Gice (LSU).

Jones led the Miners to a 52-24 victory over the Mean Green on Saturday. The junior ran for a career best 301 yards, which rates fourth nationally and first in Conference USA this season.

The junior had a career-high four touchdowns, including a season-long 83-yard score in the first quarter.

Jones finished the season with the single-season school-record 1,773 rushing yards. It’s also the fifth-best single-season performance in C-USA history and puts him in the No. 3 spot nationally.
