CARROLLTON, Texas – The UTEP Men’s Golf team wrapped up play at the North Texas Maridoe Intercollegiate on Tuesday with the Miners finishing 11th overall at the Maridoe Golf Club in Carrollton, Texas.
Eduardo Gonzalez led the Miners throughout the event, posting a three-day total score of 224 (76, 67, 80) to finish tied for 10th at 8-over-par. Jacob Presutti followed closely behind Gonzalez after the freshman shot 228 (75, 74, 79) in three rounds.
Oskar Ambrosius posted the lowest score of the day for the Miners, matching Monday’s round of 77 to finish the tournament with a three-round total of 236 (82, 77, 77), while UTEP’s Greg Yellin closed out the event by shooting 80 in the final round and also posting a total score of 236.
Cole Donielson ended the day for UTEP by shooting 81 in the third and final round to go along with his score totals of 83 and 77 in the first two rounds.
During the second round on Monday, UTEP jumped from 12th place to eighth after improving 15 shots from one round to the other. As a team, the Miners shot 311 on Sunday before improving their score total to 296 on Monday. Overall, UTEP shot 316 in the third round for a team total of 923 to close out the second annual event.
UTEP will conclude the fall season next week when the Miners make the short trip to New Mexico State for the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate on Oct. 14-15 in Las Cruces.
