UTEP Computer Science Professor Named VP of North American Fuzzy Information Processing Society

Associate Professor of Computer Science Martine Ceberio, Ph.D. has been elected vice president of the North American Fuzzy Information Processing Society (NAFIPS).

Fuzzy information processing is a way to model uncertainty in reasoning, offering ways to handle information when measurements or statements are not fully exact in order to help decision making in computer science be more effective.

Applications for this work ranges from medical diagnoses to robotics.

NAFIPS is the premier organization of fuzzy researchers in the U.S., Canada and Mexico, helping to guide the development of this information and foster technology transfer for the benefit of mankind.

Ceberio’s two-year term as vice president begins in November 2016. The NAFIPS annual international conference will be held at UTEP Oct. 31–Nov. 4.
