The UTEP cross country team will compete in 2020 as the condensed season will begin on Saturday, Oct. 3 at the 82nd annual Cowboy Jamboree hosted by Oklahoma State in Stillwater.
The Cowboy Jamboree will take place at the newly renovated, state-of-the-art OSU Cross Country Course. The men’s 8K will shoot off at 7:30 a.m. MT, while the women will take off at 8:15 a.m. MT.
UTEP will compete against Baylor, Central Arkansas, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri State (women only), North Texas, Oklahoma, host Oklahoma State, SFA, Texas State and Texas Tech.
Returning for the Miners on the men’s side is senior Cornelius Kapel, juniors Rodgers Korir, Boaz Ronoh and Michael Sims, and sophomores Titus Cheruiyot, Alek Duran and Kenneth Talavera.
Returning to the course for the women are seniors Carolyne Chepkosgei and Andrea Lucero, junior Karoline Daland, and sophomores Valerie Gonzalez, Joan Kimaiyo and Jacquilyn Orozco.
Saturday’s event will be the first of three for the Miners as they’ll make a return to Stillwater to compete at the OSU Invitational on Oct. 17.
UTEP will conclude the unique campaign at the Conference USA Championships in Birmingham, Ala., on Halloween.
