UTEP Finishes 10th at C-USA Women’s Golf Championship

UTEP rounded out the C-USA Women’s Golf Championship on Wednesday at The Champion Course at the PGA National Resort by finishing 10th as a team.

The Miners put together a 974 (314, 317, 343) as a team over the three days.

Individually, Marta Romeu Chen was the top finisher for UTEP with a 247 (78, 81, 88) to tie for 34th.

Additionally, Andrea Ostos tied for 40th with a 249 (73, 89, 87). Her tournament was highlighted by the opening round 73 which had her in a tie for second after the first 18 holes.

Naomi Ramirez posted a 250 (80, 83, 87) to tie for 42nd.

Tijana Jovicevic Kovacic posted an 83 in round one and a 78 in round two before having to withdraw in the final round. Due to injury, Sophie Delfosse was only able to finish the final two rounds for the Miners, putting up a 75 yesterday and an 81 today in the final round.

Letizia Bagnoli of Florida Atlantic led after all three rounds to win the individual title by seven strokes with a 6-over par 222 (70, 73, 79).

After concluding round one on Monday in sixth, North Texas stormed back to win the tournament by one stroke over UTSA with a 935 (312, 303, 320).
