UTEP Football’s Hotchkins Earns All-Conference USA Honors

DALLAS – UTEP linebacker A.J. Hotchkins was named to the 2018 All-Conference USA second team, the league announced on Tuesday.

The transfer started in all 12 games and is tied for first in the league in total tackles with 126. Hotchkins closed out his senior campaign ranking 17th nationally, averaging 10.5 tackles per game.

The linebacker registered double-digit tackle performances in seven games and posted a career-best 15 stops against UAB.

Hotchkins also led the team with seven sacks (49 yards) and added four quarterback hurries, one forced fumble, two pass break-ups and 10.5 tackles for loss (53 yards).

Nine Miners also received C-USA honorable mention for their accomplishments during the 2018 season. On offense, Winston Dimel, Bobby DeHaro and David Lucero were recognized.

On defense, Chris Richardson, Jamar Smith and Nik Needham garnered a spot on the honorable mention list. Punter Mitchell Crawford was the lone Miner on special teams.
