UTEP Golf Completes Second Round, Ambrosius Tied for Ninth at Western Intercollegiate

SANTA CRUZ, Ca. – UTEP sophomore Oskar Ambrosius (-1) shot a 69 in round two and moved up five spots to sit in a ninth-place tie at the 73rd Western Intercollegiate presented by Topgolf.

The Miners (745, +45) remained in 12th place after firing a 368 at Pasatiempo Golf Club (par 70/6,615 yards) Tuesday afternoon.

Ambrosius (70-69—139) was even par through the first eight holes before birdying hole no. 9 to get to 1-under par prior to playing the back nine. He followed with birdies at holes no. 13 and 15 but bogeyed holes 14 and 16. Ambrosius is tied with Cal’s no. 34 Sabastian Crampton (70-69—139).

Stanford’s no. 68 Isaiah Salinda (64-68—132) leads the individual field at 8-under par, while four players are tied for second place at 5-under par.

Host school San Jose State (346-353—699) maintained its first-place lead at 1-under par, while no. 16 Stanford (354-346—700) is in second place at even par. No. 11 Cal (354-351—705) and no. 6 USC (348-357—705) are tied for third at 5-over par, while no. 39 Oregon (348-359—707) and no. 19 Pepperdine (356-351—707) are tied for fifth place at 7-over par.

UTEP senior Aaron Terrazas (72-74—146) is tied for 42nd, senior Settavut Paradee (76-75—151) is tied for 67th, Ben Getman (78-76—154) is tied for 76th, junior Eduardo Gonzalez (81-74—155) is tied for 80th and sophomore Cole Donielson (81-83—164) is in 84th place.

UTEP will start teeing off at 9:54 a.m. MT at hole no. 10. Ambrosius will be the last Miner to tee off, which will be at 10:54 a.m. MT. GOLF Channel’s coverage will begin at 2 p.m. MT.
