The No. 49 UTEP men’s golf team is heading to Lihu’e, Kaua’i, Hawaii to compete in the 41st John A. Burns Intercollegiate February 15-17 at the Wailua Golf Course. Eighteen holes will be played each day on the 6,991-yard, par-72 course with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. HT (11:30 MT).
UTEP will compete in an 18-team field that includes seven teams ranked in Golfweek’s top 50 rankings: No. 9 Virginia, No. 21 UNLV, No. 23 Kennesaw State, No. 25 Texas A&M, No. 40 New Mexico, No. 43 BYU, No. 39 Washington, Arizona, California, Grand Canyon, Hawaii, Hawaii-Hilo, North Dakota State, Northern Colorado, Santa Clara, Utah and Washington State.
Competing for the Miners are Frederik Dreier, Charles Corner, Andreas Sorensen, Aaron Terrazas, Nicklas Pihl and Prescott Mann.
The Miners will look to bounce back from a 13th-place finish at the Arizona Intercollegiate on January 24. Dreier led the way, firing two over par 215 (69-77-69) to finish tied for sixth.
The rest of the UTEP team will be participating in a Midland College hosted event (JV) at the Lone Star Golf Club in El Paso. Settavut Paradee, Chad Ahn, Cole Donielson and Eduardo Gonzalez will tee off for the Miners for the Feb. 12-13 event.
