DALLAS – UTEP’s Aaron Terrazas was named to the All-Conference USA second team, as announced by league officials Friday.
The senior produced a spectacular campaign, registering his first two collegiate victories in back-to-back weeks, while placing in the top five in a total of four events this season.
The Mexico City product shared a victory at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate after shooting 3-over par 216 to claim his first collegiate win on Oct. 16 at NM State Golf Course.
Terrazas followed with his first outright triumph after dominating the field at the Pepsi-Cola Classic. He penciled in an impressive 15-under par 201 at Red Hawk Golf Course in Las Cruces Oct. 21. His efforts helped propel the Miners (-9) to a victory at the Pepi Classic. Terrazas was also named the C-USA co-Golfer of the Week Oct. 24 after is performance at Red Hawk.
He opened his final campaign tying for fifth at the Golfweek Conference Challenge Sept. 17, shooting 4-under par 140 (only two rounds were played due to bad weather).
Terrazas punched in a 7-under par 209 and tied for fourth at the John Burns Intercollegiate Feb. 23 in Hawai’i and was named the C-USA Golfer of the Week Feb. 27 after that performance at Wailua Municipal Golf Course.
Terrazas also registered a sixth-place finish (-3) at the Bearkat Invitational April 2 and tied for seventh at the GCU Invitational (-5) March 15.
The standout golfer fashioned a career-low and team-leading 71.5 stroke average after competing in 12 tournaments (35 rounds) during the 2018-19 season. Terrazas was recently named the team’s MVP, while also earning the UTEP Athletics Male Upperclassmen of the Year and Male Athlete of the Year at the first annual Golden Pick Awards April 25.
For Terrazas, it’s his second postseason accolade as he was named to the All-C-USA first team in 2017.
