UTEP Men’s, Women’s Basketball offering Five-Game Mini Plans, Group Tickets

Officials with UTEP Basketball announced that new, five-game mini plans and group tickets went on sale Tuesday, September 21 for both the UTEP men’s and women’s basketball 2021-22 seasons.

Mini plans for men’s basketball start as low as $43 and $30 for women’s basketball. Group tickets are $5 for women’s basketball while group options for men’s basketball start at $8.

“The five-game mini plans will allow fans to catch multiple games at the Haskins Center,” UTEP Director of Ticket Sales and Service Mark Goodwin said. “They will save money from the single-game price. Another great way to enjoy Miner basketball games is with a group of 10 or more. Purchase group tickets at a reduced rate and enjoy getting together with friends, family or co-workers to make some memories.”

It’s a great opportunity to support the UTEP men’s basketball team, under the direction of first-year head coach Joe Golding. The Miners bring back leading scorer Souley Boum, who averaged 18.8 points per game to rank third in C-USA in 2020-21 and earn a spot on the 2021 All C-USA third team.

Also back in the fold is Jamal Bieniemy, who paced the team with 4.0 assists per contest to rate sixth in the league. UTEP’s deep backcourt will also feature Christian Agnew (6.1 ppg) and Keonte Kennedy (8.6 ppg. 5.9 rpg). Veteran Tydus Verhoeven also returns for the Orange and Blue. The 6-9 forward led the Miners in field-goal percentage (62.7), offensive rebounds (47) and blocked shots (27).

There will also be a bevy of newcomers for Golding, including Bonke Maring (Blinn College), Jorell Saterfield (Ranger College), freshman post Kevin Kalu, freshman point guard from France Kezza Giffa, Georgetown transfer Jamari Sibley and Oregon transfer Alfred Hollins.

The Miner women’s basketball team rolled to a record of 17-8 last year, including 9-2 at home, to ensure the third winning season in four years under head coach Kevin Baker. He’s the first coach in program history to do so.

The Miners head into the ’21-22 season with four returning starters and six letterwinners overall back in the fold. There will also be numerous newcomers in the mix, including several Division I transfers. Fans are encouraged to take advantage of the ticket sports, with El Pasoan and 2021 All C-USA first-team honoree Katia Gallegos leading the charge for the Orange and Blue.

Fans are encouraged to mark their calendars for single-game tickets, which go on sale on Oct. 4. There will also be the inaugural Select-A-Seat event on Oct. 7.
