UTEP Men’s Golf Edged by Texas State in Match Play

For the second year in a row, UTEP fell by a score of 7-5 against Texas State in the Chris Park Matches on Tuesday at Comanche Trace.

In the morning session, UTEP was only able salvage two of the six matches. Andreas Sorenson won his match 6&5 over Eloy Gonzalez and Nicklas Pihl won his match 3&2 over Scott Williams. The Bobcats took the other four points in the morning round.

In the afternoon session, UTEP split the matches three and three. Sorenson was dominant in his second match of the day on his way to a 3&2 victory over Chase Ambrose; Sorenson was the only Miner of the day to win both of his matches.

Charlie Corner (2&1) and Frederik Dreier (4&3) posted convincing wins in the afternoon session as well.

The Miners will now compete in the Border Olympics this coming Friday and Saturday in Laredo, Texas.
