The UTEP men’s golf team fired a 283 in round two, moving up two spots to third place after day one at The Clerico hosted by Oral Roberts at Cedar Ridge Country Club (par 70 | 7,088 yards) in Broken Arrow, Okla., on Monday.
The Miners (286-283) shot 9-over par 569 and are eight strokes behind second-place Michigan (282-279—561) at 1-over par. Little Rock (275-285—560) leads the team leaderboard after two rounds at even par. Michigan fired a 279, tops on round two, while UTEP penciled in a 283 – second best score. Kansas City (291-284—575) stands in fourth, while host Oral Roberts (290-286—576) is fifth. NM State (298-298—596) sits in last.
Jacob Presutti (73-68—141) and Greg Holmes (69-72—141) are tied for 11th with seven other competitors after 36. Presutti fired a season-low 68 that included an eagle in round two to shoot up 23 spots on the leaderboard. Presutti shot 3-under on par 5 holes as he eagled hole 5 (par 5, 571 yards). Holmes dropped four spots after shooting 2-over par 72 in round two.
Braden Smith (74-68—142) fired a career-low 68 in round two, moving up 21 spots to tied 20th. Dylan Teeter (70-75—145) is tied 27th, while Sebastian Sandin (75-77—152) is tied for 53rd.
Oklahoma State’s Preston Stout (65-68) leads after day one, shooting 7-under par 133. UTSA’s Hunter Bott (68-68—136) is second, while South Alabama’s Hugo Thyr (68-69—137) and Oklahoma’s Ben Lorenz (68-69-137) are tied for third.
The Miners shot 14-over on par 4 holes (third best), while firing 7-under on par 5s. UTEP tallied 28 birdies, third most behind Michigan (32) and Little Rock (35). Troy leads with the field with two eagles, while UTEP, Texas State, Little Rock, Samford and Kansas City each recorded one.
