Albuquerque, N.M.- The UTEP men’s golf team finished eighth at the William H. Tucker Invitational on Saturday. The Miners shot 24-over-par 888 (288-298-302) as a team on the par-72, 7,555-yard course in Albuquerque, N.M.
No. 23 San Diego State won the invite, firing a one-under-par 863 (280-293-290), followed by Colorado State 873 (287-294-292), Brigham Young 878 (289-295-294), no. 24 Washington 879 (293-296-290), New Mexico 882 (282-301-299), Colorado 882 (291-302-289) and no. 25 UNLV 884 (284-304-296).
Leading the Miners on the scorecard once again were Andreas Sorenson and Frederik Dreier, both tying for 22nd place after firing a six-over-par 222. Sorenson shot rounds of 73-73-76 and Dreier finished with rounds of 74-72-76. Ben Getman and Charles Corner came in next for the Miners, tying for 48th place by shooting 227.
Getman finished with rounds of 80-75-72 and Corner ended with 69-80-78. The Miners’ Nicklas Pihl fired a 232 (72-78-82) in 71st place.
The Miners will wait two weeks until they travel to South Bend, Ind. for the Fighting Irish Classic hosted by Notre Dame Oct. 9-11.
