UTEP Men’s Golf Sits in 9th after Round 2 at the C-USA Championship Tuesday

The UTEP men’s golf team improved on its score from day one, firing a 294 during round two action and is in ninth place at the 2023 Conference USA Men’s Golf Championship at Texarkana Country Club (par 72, 6969) in Texarkana, Ark., on Tuesday.

The Miners, who shot a 314 on Monday, are at 32-over par 608 after the first 36 holes, ahead of WKU (314-302—616) by eight strokes. UTEP is 11 stokes behind UTSA (298-299—597), which dropped three spots to eighth. Rice (310-284—594) is seventh and Florida Atlantic (300-293—593) is sixth. UAB (292-296—588), which led after round one, dropped to fourth. Middle Tennessee (293-287—580), after firing a 287, is in first place, while defending champion Charlotte (298-285—583) and LA Tech (296-287—583) are tied for second place.

Max Schliesing (78-72—150) moved up eight spots to tied 26th. Marcus Khaw (79-72—151) also shot a 72 in round two, moving up 11 spots to tied 29th. Kristjan Burkelca (78-75—153) is tied 37th, while Jacob Presutti (79-75—154) is 42nd and Greg Holmes (79-78—157) is tied for 44th.

Middle Tennessee owns the top three spots after 36 holes, as Owen Stamper (73-70—143) is first, Gavin Clements (71-73—144) is second, and Kevin Jegers (76-69—145), who tied for the best round two score (69), moved up 23 spots to third. LA Tech’s Lake Juban, who penciled in a 69 on day one, dropped to tied 11th after shooting a 78 on day two.

The Miners will start round three with Holmes teeing off at 8:48 a.m. CT/7:48 MT. Presutti (8:56 a.m.), Burkelca (9:04 a.m.), Khaw (9:12 a.m.) and Schliesing (9:20 a.m.) will follow at hole no. 10. WKU will be paired with UTEP on Wednesday.
