UTEP Men’s Golf Tied Fourth after Two Rounds at Bearkat Invitational
MONTGOMERY, Texas – The UTEP men’s golf team (297-285—582) is in fourth place after two rounds of action at the Huntsville Toyota Bearkat Invitational Monday afternoon.
The Miners shot 6-over par at Walden Lake Conroe Golf Club (par 72/6,756 yards), while moving up two spots after firing a 285 in round two.
UTRGV (283-284—567) got off to a blazing start and pulled away from the rest of the field, ranking no. 1 at 9-under par after 36 holes played. Host school Sam Houston State (290-287—577) ranks second at 1-over par, while Stephen F. Austin (285-296—581) is in third place at 5-over par. Texas State (288-294—582) is tied with UTEP.
Sophomore Oskar Ambrosius (70-71—141) is tied for fifth after firing a 3-under par, while senior Aaron Terrazas (71-72—143) is ranked tied for 10th at 1-under par. Ambrosius and Terrazas each tallied nine birdies, while Ambrosius added 22 pars.
Sam Houston State’s William Holcomb (66-72—138) and Baylor’s Brandon Hoff (67-71—138) are tied for first after penciling a 6-under par after two rounds. Hoff is competing as an individual. UTRGV’s Alvaro Hernandez (70-70—140) and Pedro Lamadrid (70-70—140) are tied for third at 4-under par.
Junior Eduardo Gonzalez (80-71—151) and senior Settavut Paradee (76-75—151) are tied for 38th at 7-over par. Paradee registered 25 pars. Gonzalez shot up 22 spots after rebounding with a 71 in round two. Gonzalez recorded six birdies, with five of them coming during the second round.
