UTEP Men’s Golf ties for 10th at Tunica National

The UTEP men’s golf team concluded regular-season action, tying for 10th at the Tunica National Intercollegiate at Tunica National (par 72, 7204 yards) hosted by Arkansas State on Tuesday.

The Miners (309-300-289) shot 34-over par 898 after a slow start, but improved each round and fired a 289 in the third and final round of play to move up two spots.

UTEP finished in the top 10 for the sixth time this season and third tournament in a row after tying for fifth at the Dunk Invitational and placing ninth at the Wyoming Desert Classic.

Max Schliesing (77-69-70—216) climbed 11 spots up the leaderboard to place tied 11th after firing a 69 in the second round and a 70 in the third. He finished at 2-under par and as the top Miner for the sixth time this season. Schliesing shot 7-under par on par 5 holes, including an eagle at hole 14 (par 5, 540 yards) in round 2. He added 12 birdies on the day.

Jacob Presutti (79-74-71—224) got off to a slow start, but rebounded to move up 14 spots to tie for 35th. Presutti added UTEP’s second eagle of the tournament, when he eagled hole 3 (par 5, 520 yards) during the third round.

Greg Holmes (76-76-76—228), Marcus Khaw (79-81-72—232) and Ryan Lewis (77-93-81—251) rounded out the order of finish for UTEP.
