UTEP women’s golf capped off the Trinity Forest Invitational hosted by SMU by on Tuesday at the Trinity Forest Golf Club (par 72), finishing 14th out of 16 teams
Following tough conditions for the entire field in the first round, the second round on Monday was the highlight for the Miners as a team, shooting a 300 on the way to a 942 (335, 300, 307) total over the three rounds.
No. 23 ranked Texas Tech won the tournament with a score of 886 (309, 289, 288), topping the nearest team by 14 strokes. Melanie Green of South Florida and Lovisa Gunnar of Tulsa finished with even par tallies for the tournament to wrap up as the top placers.
For the fourth straight tournament, Sophie Delfosse led the Miners, posting a 14-over par 230 (79, 73, 78), concluding in a tie for 35th.
Ella Hammond-Baveystock had the highest individual placement of her career, tying for 46th with a (234), including a third round 71 that was the best individual round score since becoming a Miner.
Marta Romeu Chen (241), Andrea Ostos (241) and Tijana Jovicevic Kovacic (242) were the other participants for UTEP.
