UTEP Director of Athletics Jim Senter announced on Wednesday a complete rebranding of the Miner Athletic Club, the fundraising arm for UTEP Athletics.
“We have been working hard to do an overhaul of our donor programs,” UTEP Associate Athletic Director for Development Nick Popplewell said. “Moving forward, the Miner Athletic Club will be focused on the highest levels of engagement and stewardship with donors. Supporters will receive exclusive benefits and special access, allowing us to thank them for their incredible generosity. We have also made becoming a Miner Athletic Club member easier through our reworked contribution options.”
UTEP unveiled a new Miner Athletic Club logo and a new tagline, “Creating Champions” (#CreatingChampions). The Miner Athletic Club raises monies to offset the cost of scholarships for more than 300 UTEP student athletes as well as fundraises for the Miners’ 16 varsity sports and capital campaigns/projects.
Staples of the rebranded Miner Athletic Club will include revised annual fund giving levels, new and improved donor benefits, new and revised annual events, and new sports excellence funds that will debut throughout the year.
The rebrand will also feature the launch of the Scholarship Society, comprised of UTEP Athletics donors who annually contribute at the highest levels to the Miner Athletic Club. A new-look Varsity Club, a place for former UTEP student athletes to connect, is coming soon.
“Every day I am amazed by our current donors as well as the individuals we meet in the community that want to help,” Popplewell said. “The potential here at UTEP is truly limitless, and invigorates our staff on a daily basis. If we do what we need to do, UTEP Athletics will become a preeminent Group of 5 program.”
