UTEP to Recognize Teachers on Saturday during Miner Football Finale

UTEP and Conference USA are pleased to be participating in the College Football Foundation Extra Yard for Teachers initiative.

During the UTEP versus North Texas game on Saturday, teachers from the community will be selected to receive $100 Michael’s gift cards.

UTEP student-athletes from the El Paso area will select a teacher in the community, who has inspired or contributed to their academic success to receive a Michael’s gift card. The selected teachers will be notified by UTEP Athletics to participate in an on-field presentation during the match-up on Saturday.

UTEP, Conference USA and Michaels joined forces with the College Football Playoff’s Extra Yard for Teachers program, with the intent to decrease teachers’ out-of-pocket expenses for classroom supplies. Michaels has stores within all 14 Conference USA markets and each C-USA member institution will distribute $10,000 in Michaels gift cards.

In addition to the on field presentation, All EPCC, Region XIX public and private school teachers, administrators and support staff can receive up to four free tickets. Educators can register to receive complimentary tickets at

Tickets will be distributed early at four convenient TFCU Credit Union Branches on Saturday morning, November 19 or at the Sun Bowl Stadium on Saturday, November 26. Call the Office of University Relations at 915.747.8244, for more information.

Please join UTEP in honoring the teachers in the community on Saturday at 2 p.m. MT in the Sun Bowl.
