The UTEP rifle team shot its highest score of the season in its loss to Alaska Fairbanks, 4740-4604, at the NCAA Qualifier match Saturday.
As a team, the Miners fired season-highs for both disciplines: 2284 smallbore and 2320 air rifle. Isabel Brooks paced the Miners with an 1167 aggregate (580 smallbore, 587 air rifle).
“If there is a time to do your best, it is at the qualifiers,” head coach Austin Litherland said. “The teams hard work really showed today, and I am happy with the focus that the team put in for this match. It’s good to end the season on a high note.”
Isabel Brooks repeated her career-high 1167 aggregate which she accomplished earlier this season on Nov. 13 at the triangular match versus TCU and Nebraska.
Jonna Warnken registered a season-high 1156 aggregate beating out her previous score of 1138 versus TCU on Feb. 12.
Jennifer Windle recorded a season-high 1149 aggregate pulling away from her previous score of 1145 from the first match of the season (Oct. 9) against Nebraska.
