UTEP Concludes Patriot Rifle Conference Championships
COLORADO SPRINGS, Co.- The UTEP rifle fired a 2321 in air rifle on the second and final day of the 2018 Patriot Rifle Conference Championships. Overall the Miners finish the event with a two-day aggregate of 4570.
TCU (4697) took home the title, followed by host Air Force (4670), Alaska Fairbanks (4667), Ohio State (4660), Nevada (4645) and UTEP.
Freshman Jessica Boyce fired a career-high 587 to bring her aggregate to 1153, which is one shy of her campaign high. Fellow classmate Samantha Miller followed suit with a personal-high 579 to cap the championships with an aggregate of 1128.
Junior Maranda Nelson registered a 581, tying her third-best effort of her career in the process. Overall she notched an aggregate of 1135.
Sophomore Mara Rouse recorded a score of 574 to wrap up the competition with an aggregate of 1127. Sophomore Abby Monique finished at 568 on the way to an aggregate of 1135.
The Miners will now be idle until playing host to Nevada in their NCAA Qualifier on Feb. 17. The match will be held at the UTEP rifle range and admission is free to the public.
