The UTEP rifle team will return to the range to play host to TCU at the UTEP rifle range at 8:30 a.m. MT Saturday.
“We are super excited to be hosting TCU this weekend,” UTEP head coach Austin Litherland said. “The team has been come back well rested and with more energy and focus than ever. It’s like they got their second wind and ready to push themselves for the last part of the season. A coach will always be proud to see 100 percent from their team and that’s exactly what I’m seeing.”
Admission is free. It is the first match for the Miners since November 17
Sophomore Jessica Boyce led the Miners during the fall portion of the campaign, registering a team-high aggregate average of 1152. Aiding that was an average score of 583 in air rifle, which also topped the squad.
Junior Mara Rouse and freshman Morgahn Warner shared second on the team with an average aggregate of 1145, followed by senior Maranda Nelson (1138), sophomore Samantha Miller (1135) and freshman Josephine John (1123).
UTEP was particularly strong in air rifle, with all six active members topping 570 in average for air rifle.
Saturday’s match is one of just two remaining home dates for the Orange and Blue, who will also play host to Nevada and Alaska-Fairbanks on February 16 for their NCAA Qualifier.
