UTEP names Sarah Tuohy Assistant AD for the Annual Fund

UTEP Associate Athletic Director Charley Thrash announced on Monday that Sarah Tuohy has been named Assistant Athletic Director for the Annual Fund.

“We are very excited to welcome Sarah to the Miner Athletic Club team! She brings great experience and knowledge in the athletic development field,” Thrash said. “Our donors will enjoy getting to know her as she continues to enhance, plan, and implement new and engaging ideas to our annual fund.”

Tuohy comes to the Sun City after serving as Athletic Advancement Officer at the University of Evansville since August of 2019. Tuohy also served as Assistant Director, Athletic Events and Donor Engagement at Boston College from June, 2018 through August, 2019.

“I am thrilled to be joining the athletics staff at UTEP and to help fulfill the Miner Athletic Club’s mission of Creating Champions,” Tuohy said. “I am thankful to Charley for this incredible opportunity and look forward to getting to know this community and our supporters on a personal level.”

While at Evansville, Tuohy managed portfolios of 150 prospects and cultivated major gifts of $25,000 or higher for athletic and university capital projects. She launched a COVID-19 relief fundraising initiative to recover lost athletics revenue, and a #SupportYourSport giving campaign that increased total day of giving dollars by 112 percent and total donors by 433 percent.

Tuohy’s efforts helped amass $7.5 million to the annual fund at Boston College in 2019, setting a BC athletics’ record. She served as the development liaison to the men’s and women’s cross country and track & field teams, and the Spirit program helping with sport-specific fundraising. It included creating and executing a fundraising plan for locker room renovations totaling $450K.

Tuohy received a bachelor of science in applied physiology and sports management, and a bachelor of arts in psychology in May, 2015 at SMU. She followed that with a Master of Arts in Sport Administration in May, 2018 at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Tuohy hit the ground running following graduation at SMU, serving as an external affairs intern at Evansville from July, 2015 to May, 2016. Following that, she was a graduate assistant for The Rams Club while at UNC.

Tuohy worked directly with all parts of The Rams Club, primarily with the Annual Fund Team, focusing on growing membership, selling football and basketball tickets, prospecting for the Major Gift Team, and helping to execute Tar Heel Tour events across the state of North Carolina. She was also responsible for a 29 percent increase in Student Ram membership during the 2017-18 academic year.
