UTEP Softball to Conclude Fall Season with Games on Friday & Saturday
The UTEP softball team will finish out the fall session as it hosts a pair of doubleheaders, starting with a two-game set against Howard College on Oct. 20 (4 & 6 p.m.) and two contests against Odessa on Oct. 21 (1 & 3 p.m.) at the Helen of Troy Softball Complex.
Admission to all four games is free.
In their last game, the Miners hosted El Paso Community College on Oct. 8, coming out with an 8-1 victory. Freshman Ilena Santos registered the first hit, connecting on a one-out double in the first and would eventually cross the dish for the game’s first run.
Cortney Smith, who recorded 22 RBI and hit .364 during the 2017 season, drove in a pair of runs in the first, giving here squad a 3-0 advantage.
Mariah Ellis would score a run on a double steal, while freshman Brianna Hill doubled in a run to give the Miners a 5-1 lead in the second. Pamala Baber also registered a RBI against EPCC during the fourth frame.
UTEP SOFTBALL WINTER CAMP
UTEP softball will hold its winter camp on Dec. 2 at the Helen of Troy Softball Complex. The day will be broken up into two sessions. The first will start at 11:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. with defense and hitting for ages 13 & under. Session two will start at 3 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. with defense and hitting for ages 14-18. The camp price is $40 and registration is available online.
