UTEP Softball Falls to Western Kentucky in Series Opener Friday Afternoon

BOWLING GREEN, Kentucky – The UTEP softball team (10-15, 1-3 Conference USA) fell to Western Kentucky (19-4, 3-1 C-USA) 6-0 in its series opener Friday afternoon at the WKU Softball Complex. 

WKU jumped to a 6-0 lead after four innings. The Hilltoppers posted two runs in the first after they walked in two runs, then Abby Newman recorded a 2RBI single to right center in the third to extend the lead 4-0.

WKU plated two in the fourth that lifted the Hilltoppers up 6-0.

The Miners had four hits overall and never reached past second base.

UTEP will continue its three-game series versus Western Kentucky Saturday, March 19, at 12 p.m. MT. The contest will be streamed on Facebook Live, with live stats also available.
