The UTEP softball team, after sweeping North Texas and clinching a spot in the Conference USA Tournament, will play a three-game set at Southern Miss to close out the regular season on May 7-8 in Hattiesburg.
The Miners (22-28, 13-8 C-USA) and Golden Eagles (25-26, 11-10 C-USA) will square off in a doubleheader on Saturdaystarting at 1 p.m. CT, while Sunday’s contest is set for a noon CT start.
UTEP will advance to postseason play for the first time since the 2010 season and is tied with UAB (23-28, 13-8 C-USA) in the West Division, as the no. 2 overall seed is up for grabs.
The Blazers play at the North Texas this weekend. The C-USA Tournament will be played May 11-14 in Denton, Texas. No. 22/24 Florida Atlantic (19-2 C-USA) clinched the regular season title and the no. 1 overall seed.
The Miners are coming off their first ever sweep against the Mean Green, while the Golden Eagles lost two games at LA Tech (29-18, 10-8 C-USA) this past weekend. The Lady Techsters are currently in third place in the West.
With the North Texas sweep, it’s the first time the program has completed three sweeps in a single season of a league foe.
