UTEP Softball Hosts Odessa College to Open Fall Season

The UTEP softball team will host Odessa College, as the 2016 fall season begins on Oct. 2 with a doubleheader (noon start) at the Helen of Troy Softball Complex. Both contests are free for all fans.

UTEP is coming off a successful 2016 campaign. The Miners advanced to the Conference USA Tournament after posting their first ever-winning league record at 13-11. It was the first postseason action since the 2010 season; while UTEP’s 5-4 come-from-behind victory over FIU on May 11was the first postseason win since the 2009 campaign.

Tobin Echo-Hawk is entering her fourth season at the helm for the Miners, as the spring season will commence in February 2017.

Odessa College is one of the top junior college programs in the nation. The Wranglers are coming off a 43-22 record in 2016, while posting a 22-6 league record.

Last fall season, UTEP fell to Odessa College, 11-9, in the first game but rebounded to win game two, 12-0, on Sept. 25.

The fall slate will continue on Oct. 8 against Sul Ross (12:30 p.m.) and El Paso Community College (3 p.m.) at the Helen of Troy Softball Complex.
