UTEP Group Starts Online Economics Newsletter

UTEP’s Border Region Modeling Project (BRMP) has published its first free electronic monthly newsletter, the Borderplex Business Barometer, in response to requests from leaders in the local business community for timely information on the state of the regional economy.

The new publication will provide a fairly comprehensive snapshot of the area economy that will benefit business managers and policy analysts throughout the borderplex, said Tom Fullerton, Ph.D., professor of economics and BRMP director.

Data for the newsletter – a brief description of recent economic and commercial developments backed by charts that will illustrate those findings – has been available to BRMP subscribers and the business community for years, but was disseminated by BRMP economists at business forums, public sector conferences and website downloads.

BRMP economist Adam Walke, one of the main newsletter writers along with Fullerton, said the initial reaction by BRMP subscribers to the newsletter, which was published in April 2017, has been positive.

One Albuquerque businessman said the publication was “a very helpful tool” that he looked forward to receiving every month. It can be downloaded HERE

Borderplex Business Barometer is the latest publication from the BRMP. The group also produces the Borderplex Economic Outlook, a detailed forecast of the region’s economy; Mexico Consensus Economic Forecast, which summarizes two-year outlooks for the national economy of Mexico, and a peer-reviewed technical report research series on multiple issues related to the border economy.
