UTEP Tennis Begins Spring Season Friday

The spring season will officially kick off Friday, Jan. 13, for the UTEP women’s tennis team when it travels to Fort Worth to compete in the TCU Spring Invite.

The tourney will run through Sunday, Jan. 15 at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center. The action will begin at 1 p.m. when UTEP takes on the Horned Frogs in the start of the double matches.

Single matches will then be played Saturday, when each team will play two other teams, through Sunday, with each team facing off against one other team.

The Miners will compete in a four team field that includes Texas State, ULM and host TCU, which brings No. 75 in ITA singles rankings Seda Arantekin, No. 115 Marie Norris and the No. 16 ranked in doubles duo of Donika Bashota and Olaya Garrido-Rivas to defend their home court.

Representing the Miners will be Raven Bennett, Vivienne Kulicke, Maria Paula Medina, Milou Pierersz and Daphne Visscher. Lois Wagenvoort will be a match-time decision.

Friday, Jan. 13 (Everyone plays Everyone in 3 doubles matches – 1 set to 6 No Ad)

followed by Texas State vs ULM

followed by TCU vs ULM

followed by Texas State vs UTEP

followed by TCU vs Texas State

followed by ULM vs UTEP

Saturday, Jan. 14 (Each team plays 2 teams in singles)

12:45pm– UTEP vs Texas State

followed by TCU vs ULM

followed by TCU vs UTEP

followed by ULM vs Texas State

Sunday, Jan. 15 (Each team plays 1 team in singles)

9:00am– UTEP vs ULM

followed by TCU vs Texas State
