The UTEP tennis team saw more success in the second day of the Aggie Invitational at the NM State Tennis Center. The Miners picked up a win in doubles and three wins at singles.

Maria Paula Medina and Lois Wagenvoort defeated Gemma Goodland and Anely Heinze from Western New Mexico, 8-3, in the consolation semi-final round of the White Flight Doubles bracket. In the Crimson Flight Doubles bracket, Daphne Visscher and Raven Bennett paired up to take on Lindsay Harlas and Vanessa Valdez from NM State but dropped their match, 8-6.

In Singles action, Wagenvoort won her matchup against Valdez, 6-1, 7-5 in the Crimson Singles Flight Bracket. Action continued in the White Singles Flight bracket, where Visscher topped Lana Rinaldi of Grand Canyon, 6-3, 6-1, but Medina lost her battle with New Mexico’s Ruth Copas, 6-1, 6-1.

In the Gold Singles Flight bracket, Bennett picked up another win versus NM State’s Fanni Novak, 6-0, 6-1.

The tournament will conclude on Sunday and will begin with doubles at 9 a.m. (MT). Singles action will follow doubles with three Miners competing in Championship rounds of their brackets.
