UTEP Tennis drops a match to Arizona; Now 3-2 overall

TUCSON, Arizona – The UTEP women’s Tennis team dropped a tough match at No. 65 Arizona on Thursday at LaNelle Robson Tennis Center.

UTEP dropped to 3-2 overall this spring with the loss, while Arizona picked up its first win of the season (1-1).

The Wildcats had the upper hand throughout the day, as they defeated then Miners, 7-0. Lois Wagenvoort forced a third set at No. 3 singles, but ultimately dropped her individual contest (0-6, 7-5, 6-10).

In the other five singles contests, the Orange and Blue failed to record a set victory. Over in doubles play, the No. 1 duo of Duda Santos and Vivienne Kulicke were locked-in to a thrilling 5-4 score but the match was halted due to Arizona already claiming the doubles team point.

Up next for the Miners is another tough match-up versus No. 27 Arizona State in Tempe, Ariz. tomorrow. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m. (MT) at Whiteman Tennis Center.
