ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The UTEP women’s tennis team won all three doubles matches on the final day of the Lobo Invitational. The Miners concluded the fall season and will prepare for spring action.
In doubles action, the Miners were matched against NM State, while on the singles side, the Orange and Blue took on host New Mexico.
Vivienne Kulicke and Bethan Hayward notched their third win of the weekend, defeating Sarah Van Eeckhoudt and Elena Amaudova, 6-4. Kulicke and Hayward were paired for the first time this fall on Friday and fashioned a 3-0 record.
Daphne Visscher and Lois Wagenvoort defeated Erika Castillo and Chloe Jolliff, 7-6 (3). Visscher and Wagenvoort won two of three doubles matches during the weekend.
Matilda Tench and Raven Bennett won their second doubles match of the weekend after dominating Mia Brandt and Gabrielle Joyce, 6-0.
The Miners couldn’t muster up a singles win in their six matches on Sunday. Kulicke fell to Emily Olivier, 6-7 (3), 6-2, 7-6 (5), as she ended her first fall season with a team-best 10 wins.
UTEP will continue competition in the spring of 2016.
